في حي شعبي، عايش "المصطفى"، راجل فضولي وعزيز عليه يعرف "الشادة والفادة" في الحومة. ديما جالس في القهوة كايتسنط للهضرة، وايلا سمع شي مشكل، كايطير باش يتدخل ويصلح. واحد النهار، وقع سوء تفاهم بسيط بين "الهاشمي" ومرتو "فاطمة"، على شي حاجة ديال الدار. بدات الهضرة كاتعلا شوية، ولكن كلشي عارف بلي هما عائلة متماسكة ومابيناتهم والو. المصطفى سمع الخبر، وبلا ما يفكر، طار لدارهم. بدا كايتشرط على فاطمة، ويقول ليها بلي الهاشمي غلطان، ويهدر مع الهاشمي ويقول ليه بلي فاطمة كاتبالغ. المصطفى كان كايظن بلي كايعاون، ولكن في الحقيقة كان كايزيد "العافية على الما". الهاشمي وفاطمة، فاش شافو المصطفى كايتدخل هكاك، حسو بالاحراج. وفي واحد اللحظة، المصطفى زاد في الهضرة وقارن فاطمة بمرتو، هنا الهاشمي وفاطمة شافو في بعضياتهم، وتبسمو. فاطمة دارت عند المصطفى وقالت ليه بابتسامة: – "أ المصطفى، الله يجازيك بخير، المشكل بيناتنا بسيط، ونقدرو نحلوه وحدنا. الهاشمي كمل الهضرة: – "المصطفى، را الحومة كلها عارفة باللي 'اللي ما قتلكش يزيدك قوة'. ايلا بقيتي كاتدخل في أمورنا، راك 'كاتدخل بين الظفر واللحم'، والآخرة كاتكون هي الظهر اللي كايتحنى." المصطفى حس بالاحراج، وعرف بلي التدخل ديالو كان زائد. نسحب بهدوء من الدار، وفهم باللي بعض الأمور العائلية كاتكون دقيقة ومقربة بزاف، وما كاتحتاجش للتدخل الخارجي. ومن ديك النهار، فهم المصطفى باللي الكرامة هما راس مال الإنسان، وأن الكلمة الطيبة هي اللي كتدوم، ماشي التدخل في شؤون الناس.
Getting between the nail and the flesh In a popular neighborhood lived "Mustafa," a curious man who loved to know everything happening around the alley. He was always sitting at the café listening to conversations, and whenever he heard about a problem, he would rush to intervene and fix it. One day, a minor misunderstanding happened between "Al-Hashimi" and his wife "Fatima" over a household matter. Voices got slightly raised, but everyone knew they were a close-knit family with no real issues between them. Mustafa heard the news, and without thinking, rushed to their house. He started lecturing Fatima, telling her that Al-Hashimi was in the wrong, and spoke to Al-Hashimi telling him that Fatima was exaggerating. Mustafa thought he was helping, but in reality, he was just "adding fuel to the fire." When Al-Hashimi and Fatima saw Mustafa interfering like that, they felt embarrassed. At one point, Mustafa went too far in his talk and compared Fatima to his own wife; at that moment, Al-Hashimi and Fatima looked at each other and smiled. Fatima turned to Mustafa and said with a smile: – "Mustafa, may God reward you well, our problem is simple, and we can solve it ourselves." Al-Hashimi continued: – "Mustafa, the whole neighborhood knows that 'what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.' If you keep meddling in our affairs, you are **'getting in between the nail and the flesh,'** and the end result is just a broken back." Mustafa felt embarrassed and realized that his intervention was unwarranted. He quietly withdrew from the house, understanding that some family matters are delicate, very close, and do not need external interference. From that day on, Mustafa understood that dignity is a person's true capital, and that a kind word is what lasts, not meddling in people's affairs.
