"Covering the Sun with a Sieve"* In a popular neighborhood, lived "Sufyan," a young man who loved to appear wealthy and successful in front of the locals. He would always rent a new car during holidays, wear a shiny large watch, and brag at the local café about imaginary big projects he was running in the city. Most neighbors played along out of respect, but everyone knew his true situation; Sufyan was drowned in debt, and his watch was just a cheap replica bought from the flea market. One day, two men from the car rental agency arrived in the alley, asking for him by name to settle an overdue bill. Sufyan spotted them from afar, rushed inside a small shop, and tried to hide his face while pretending to be on an important phone call. "Uncle Bouchaib," the oldest shopkeeper in the neighborhood, looked at him with a wise smile and said calmly: – *"My boy Sufyan, enough with this act. **'Are you trying to cover the sun with a sieve?'** There is no shame in being humble or starting from scratch; the real shame is hiding the truth with obvious tricks and living a delusion."* Sufyan felt deeply embarrassed, lowered his eyes, and realized that the lie he was living had finally burst. He stepped out, faced the men, and arranged to pay them back bit by bit. From that day on, Sufyan dropped the mask and started working hard with honesty and authenticity, realizing that truth and simplicity are what earn people's respect—and a sieve can never block the light of the sun.
