She Blurts Things Out Without a Second Thought – Palestinian-Jordanian Dialect Samar was known among her friends for saying whatever came into her head, without caring whether her words hurt other people. One day, the girls gathered at Huda’s house. Huda was excited to show them a dress she had bought for her sister’s wedding. The moment Samar saw it, she exclaimed: — Good heavens! You actually paid money for that? I swear, I wouldn’t wear it even if someone gave it to me for free! Huda felt embarrassed and replied: — Well, I like it. I just wanted to show it to you. Samar responded: — What do you want me to do? Lie to you and tell you it’s beautiful? Rana stepped in and said: — Samar, you don’t have to say every single thing that pops into your head, especially not like that! She’s happy with her dress. Why would you hurt her feelings? Samar shrugged and said: — That’s just how I am! I say whatever’s on my mind, and if someone wants to get upset, let them! Rana replied: — Exactly! You just blurt things out without a second thought! You never think before you speak, and you don’t even care how your words affect people! Huda looked at her and said: — The problem isn’t that you’re honest, Samar. The problem is that you hurt people with your words and then carry on talking as if nothing happened! Expression Meaning: This Palestinian-Jordanian expression describes someone who speaks carelessly, without thinking about what they say or how their words might affect others. They may say hurtful things, and even when people get upset, they simply don't care. A similar expression is which literally means throwing words around.
