Small Talk Doesn't Feed Bread In a village near us, there was a man named Abu Talal. He spent his days sitting at the local grocery store, rambling on and acting like a know-it-all to everyone passing by. His motto in life was: "Brains make money, work is for the foolish!" Meanwhile, his wife, "Umm Talal," was working tirelessly day and night, knitting to bring home a living. But Abu Talal just sat there shooting the breeze with the guys, with no job and no care in the world. One day, a wealthy merchant got fed up with all his big talk and said to him: "Abu Talal, if you're so smart, go ahead and take charge of this job, and show us what you can do!" Abu Talal got flustered and started making excuses to wriggle out of it. The merchant laughed and said the line that hit him like a lightning bolt "My man, small talk doesn't buy bread, endless chatting won't fill your pockets, and a real man is known by his actions, not his tongue!" Abu Talal went back home hung his head in shame. He felt deeply embarrassed, dropped the empty philosophy, and finally went to work, earning a living by the sweat of his brow!
