كان عادل قاعد مع أصحابه، و قاعد بيشكي إلهم هَمُّه و قدّيش زعلان عشان خسر شغله ومش عارف كيف يدبّر حاله. ردّ عليه لؤي: — يمكن لأنك مش شاطر بالشغل من الأساس! الواحد لازم يعرف يدبّر حاله بدل ما يضل يشكي. سكت عادل، وبيّن على وجهه إنه انجرح من الحكي. حاول لؤي يبرّر كلامه: — شو مالك زعلت؟ أنا بحكي الحقيقة! تدخّل سامر وقال: — يا لؤي، إنت مشكلتك إنك بترمي كلام بدون ما تفكّر. مش كل إشي بخطر ببالك لازم تحكيه! لؤي سكت شوي، وبعدين قال: — والله ما كان قصدي أجرحه. ردّ سامر: — بس الكلام الجارح ما بنفع معه «ما كان قصدي». الكلمة لما تطلع، صعب ترجعها. بِيرمي كلام يعني بيحكي بدون تفكير،،،، وممكن يجرح الناس بكلامه من غير ما يحسب حساب لمشاعرهم.
He Throws Words Around – Palestinian- Jordanian dialect Adel was sitting with his friends, sharing his worries and explaining how upset he was about losing his job and not knowing how to make ends meet. Louay replied: — Maybe it’s because you weren’t good at your job in the first place! A person should know how to manage his life instead of constantly complaining. Adel fell silent, and the hurt on his face was clear. Louay tried to justify what he had said: — What’s wrong? Why are you upset? I’m just telling the truth! Samer stepped in and said: — Louay, your problem is that you throw words around without thinking. Not every thought that crosses your mind needs to be said! Louay was quiet for a moment, then said: — I swear, I didn’t mean to hurt him. Samer replied: — But hurtful words can’t be excused with “I didn’t mean it.” Once a word is spoken, it’s hard to take it back. “He throws words around” means speaking without thinking and possibly hurting people with his words without considering their feelings.
