Darrab Al-Sikhon –Syrian Dialect Once upon a time, on a certain day, Abu Al-Abed was sitting in his small shop, relaxed, sipping his cup of coffee, and enjoying total peace of mind. Suddenly, the shop door burst open as his neighbor, Abu Subhi, came running in out of his mind, his face pale and frightened. Panting, Abu Subhi started talking: "Quick, save the day, Abu Al-Abed! Your wife is fighting with your neighbor Umm Hamed out on the balcony! The whole world is upside down, and the entire street has gathered around them! The screaming has reached the end of the alley!" Abu Al-Abed acted like he didn't hear a thing. He just stayed sitting in his place with complete coolness, blew a cloud of cigarette smoke, looked at him, shook his head, and said: *"Darrab al-sikhon!* Let her fight until morning, what do I care? I wish they'd both get off my back and leave me alone—she's my wife and she knows how to handle herself!" He went right back to sipping his coffee in total serenity, while Abu Subhi stared at him, completely in disbelief at such utter indifference. The next day, Abu Al-Abed woke up—but this time, he was in a rush and needed to head out for an urgent errand, and on top of that, he was running late. Suddenly, he couldn't find his car keys. He started turning the house upside down, opening and closing drawers, lifting the cushions, his blood boiling and his veins throbbing with anger. Standing right in the middle of the living room, he started yelling out loud and saying: *"Look where this disaster went... Where is darrab al-sikhon?! We need to hurry up and find this key!"* “Darrab al-sikhon" is said as a reaction to show that whatever you just heard doesn't matter to you at all (as if saying *"I couldn't care less"*). It is also used when you're angry and complaining about something or trying to name/find something while frustrated.
