كانت سارة قاعدة مع صاحبتها هدى بالكافيه، وهدى من أول ما وصلت وهي بتحكي معها، بس سارة كانت ساكتة و سارحة وبتطلع بالموبايل كل شوي. هدى سألتها: — سارة، سمعتي شو حكيتلك؟ سارة رفعت راسها و ردّت: — آه آه، أكيد. هدى سألتها: — طيب شو حكيت؟ سارة سكتت شوي وقالت: — والله… عقلي مش معي اليوم. هدى ضحكت وقالت: — واضح! من أول ما قعدنا وأنا بحكي معك بس كأنّي بحكي مع الحيط ،،،، وين عقلك؟ ليش عقلك مش معك،،، ! سارة قالت: — اسفة مش قصدي، بس عندي شغلة بالشغل مش راضية تطلع من راسي. بعد شوي، إجت سألتهم الموظفة شو بتحبوا تطلبوا؟ هدى طلبت قهوتها، وسارة قالت: — وأنا بدي… بدي… و ضلّت ساكتة. هدى سألتها: — شو بدك؟ سارة ضحكت وقالت: — مش عارفة! حتى أنا مش عارفة شو بدي أشرب! خلص جيبيلي أي شي على زوئك… هدى ضحكت وقالت: — خلص، اليوم واضح إن عقلك مش معك! «عقلي مش معي» بتنحكى لما الشخص يكون مش مركز،،، أو الناس بيحكو معاه بس بيفكر بمكان او موضوع تاني
My Mind Isn’t Here — Palestinian-Jordanian Dialect Sarah was sitting with her friend Huda at a café. Huda had been talking to her since she arrived, but Sarah was quiet and distracted, checking her phone every now and then. Huda asked her: — Sarah, did you hear what I said to you? Sarah looked up and replied: — Yeah, yeah, of course. Huda asked: — Okay, what did I say? Sarah was quiet for a moment and said: — Honestly… my mind isn’t here today. Huda laughed and said: — Clearly! I’ve been talking to you since we sat down, but it’s like I’m talking to a wall! Where’s your mind? Why isn’t your mind here?! Sarah said: — Sorry, I don’t mean to, but there’s something going on at work that I just can’t get out of my head. A little while later, the waitress came over and asked them: — What would you like to order? Huda ordered her coffee, and Sarah said: — And I want… I want… She stopped and went quiet. Huda asked: — What do you want? Sarah laughed and said: — I don’t know! I don’t even know what I want to drink! Just bring me anything you think is good. Huda laughed and said: — Okay, it’s obvious that your mind isn’t here today! “My mind isn’t here” is said when someone is not focused or distracted, and is thinking about something else while people are talking to them.
