The proverb says: “Today’s news costs money, tomorrow it’s free,” meaning that secrets and news eventually become known to everyone with time.

In the neighborhood, a rumor suddenly spread that Abu Karim’s family was planning to sell their house and leave the area.

Within hours, everyone started talking:
“They must be in debt.”
“Looks like their situation is bad.”
“Maybe they’re having family problems.”

Everyone added their own version to the story, as if they already knew the truth.

Whenever the women of the neighborhood tried to stop Umm Karim and ask her, she would always be in a hurry and unable to explain what was really going on.

The gossip kept growing, and everyone started saying whatever they wanted.

The whole village became curious, but nobody had a certain answer.

Then the village elder came and told them:
“Be patient… today’s news costs money, tomorrow it’s free.”

The next day, Abu Karim stood in front of the building with workers and construction materials.

The neighbors asked him:
“Aren’t you planning to sell the house?”

Abu Karim laughed and said:
“Sell what? We just want to expand the house and build an extra room for our daughter before university.”

Everyone went silent.

They realized the village elder was right. Sometimes people become too curious and want to know every detail about a situation, while the people involved may not want to talk about it or may be trying to keep it private.

But if news is “worth money” today… tomorrow everyone will know it, and it will become common knowledge with no value at all.
