‎قصة الفتاة التي علمت الخليفة

في إحدى الليالي كان عمر بن الخطاب يتفقد أحوال الناس بنفسه، كعادته.
فمرّ ببيت بسيط، وسمع امرأة تقول لابنتها:

اخلطي الحليب بالماء لنبيعه أكثر.

فقالت البنت:
لكن عمر نهى عن خلط اللبن بالماء.

فقالت الأم:
عمر لا يرانا الآن.

فردّت البنت بكلمة عظيمة:

إن كان عمر لا يرانا… فربُّ عمر يرانا.

كان عمر يقف خارج البيت وسمع هذا الكلام كله.
فتأثر جدًا بأمانة الفتاة.

وفي اليوم التالي سأل عن تلك الفتاة، ثم زوّجها من ابنه عاصم.

ومن نسل هذه الفتاة بعد سنوات وُلد الخليفة العادل عمر بن عبد العزيز.

The Story of the Honest Girl

One night, the Caliph Umar ibn al-Khattab was walking through the streets of the city to check on the condition of the people.

While passing by a small house, he heard a mother telling her daughter:

“Mix the milk with water so we can sell more of it.”

The daughter replied:

“But the Caliph Umar has forbidden mixing milk with water.”

The mother said:

“Umar cannot see us now.”

Then the daughter answered with a powerful sentence:

“If Umar cannot see us, the Lord of Umar can.”

Umar was standing outside and heard the entire conversation. He was deeply impressed by the girl’s honesty.

The next day, he asked about the girl and later arranged for her to marry his son Asim.

From the descendants of this honest girl, years later, came the great and just ruler Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz.
