الاسد والثور والثعلب النمام

ي غابةٍ عظيمة، كان هناك أسد قوي اسمه بيدبا، ملك في الغابة، تخشاه كل الحيوانات وتحترمه. وكان يعيش في بلاطه ابنَا آوى: كليلة الحكيم، ودمنة الطموح الماكر.

في يومٍ من الأيام، جاء إلى الغابة ثور ضخم اسمه شَتَربة. كان قد ضل طريقه بعد أن تركه صاحبه الإنسان، فأصبح يعيش وحده قرب النهر.

في أحد الصباحات، أطلق الثور صوتًا قويًا وهو يخور. كان الصوت عميقًا ومهيبًا حتى إن الأرض اهتزت قليلًا.

سمع الأسد الصوت… فتوقف فجأة. لم يكن قد سمع شيئًا كهذا من قبل.

قال الأسد بخوف:
“ما هذا الصوت؟ هل يوجد مخلوق أقوى مني في غابتي؟”

لاحظ دمنة خوف الأسد، وفكر في نفسه:
“هذه فرصتي لأصبح قريبًا من الملك.”

فقال للأسد بثقة:
“يا مولاي، اسمح لي أن أذهب وأعرف حقيقة هذا الصوت.”

ذهب دمنة، ووجد الثور. تحدث معه بلطف، وعرف أنه مسالم ولا يريد الأذى. لكنه عاد إلى الأسد وقال بخبث:

“يا مولاي، هذا الثور مخلوق عظيم، لكنه يحترم قوتك ويريد أن يكون صديقك.”

فرح الأسد، والتقى بالثور. ومع الوقت، أصبحا صديقين مقربين جدًا. كانا يجلسان ويتحدثان كل يوم.

لكن دمنة بدأ يشعر بالغيرة. فقد أصبح الثور أقرب إلى الأسد منه.

فقال دمنة لنفسه:
“إذا بقي هذا الثور، فلن أكون مهمًا بعد الآن.”

فذهب إلى الأسد وقال له:
“يا مولاي… يجب أن أكون صادقًا معك. الثور يقول إنه أقوى منك… ويريد أن يأخذ مكانك.”

غضب الأسد وبدأ الشك يدخل قلبه.

ثم ذهب دمنة إلى الثور وقال:
“احذر! الأسد ينوي قتلك لأنه يخاف من قوتك.”

أصبح الاثنان خائفين من بعضهما… رغم أنهما كانا صديقين.

وفي يومٍ مظلم… عندما التقيا… كان الخوف قد تحول إلى غضب.

هاجم الأسد الثور… وبعد معركة قصيرة… قتل صديقه.

بعد أن هدأ، شعر الأسد بحزن عميق.

قال بصوت مكسور:
“لقد قتلت صديقي… دون أن أتأكد من الحقيقة.”

أما دمنة… فقد حصل على ما أراد مؤقتًا. لكن الحقيقة انكشفت لاحقًا… وعوقب على خيانته.

The Lion, the Bull, and Dimna

Long ago, in a vast forest, there lived a powerful lion king. All the animals feared and respected him. Among those who lived near him were two jackals named Kalila and Dimna. Kalila was wise and calm. Dimna was clever, ambitious, and hungry for power.

One day, a strong bull named Shanzabeh wandered into the forest after being separated from his owner. He began living peacefully near a river.

One morning, the bull let out a loud, deep call. The sound echoed across the forest.

When the lion heard it, he froze.

He had never heard such a powerful sound before.

He said nervously,
“What creature could make such a sound? Is there someone stronger than me?”

Dimna saw this as an opportunity.

He said confidently,
“My king, allow me to investigate.”

Dimna found the bull and realized he was peaceful and harmless. But instead of simply reporting the truth, Dimna had a plan.

He introduced the bull to the lion and said,
“My king, this bull respects your strength and wishes to serve you.”

The lion was pleased. Soon, the lion and the bull became close friends. They talked daily and trusted each other.

But Dimna grew jealous.

He thought,
“If the bull becomes the king’s favorite, I will lose my influence.”

So Dimna went to the lion and whispered,
“My king… the bull secretly plans to overthrow you. He believes he is stronger.”

The lion became suspicious.

Then Dimna went to the bull and said,
“Be careful. The lion fears your strength and plans to kill you.”

Now both the lion and the bull were afraid of each other.

Fear turned into mistrust.

Mistrust turned into anger.

One day, when they met, the lion attacked the bull.

After a short battle, the lion killed his friend.

When it was over, the lion felt deep regret.

He said sadly,
“I have killed a loyal friend without knowing the truth.”

Dimna had gained influence—but only temporarily. Eventually, his deception was discovered, and he was punished.
