قصة الثعلب والديك

قالوا إن ثعلبًا
مرَّ يومًا بديكٍ على غُصنٍ عالٍ،
فقال له بلطفٍ ماكر:

يا ديك، أبشِرْ
فقد صارتِ الحيواناتُ إخوة،
وعمَّ السلامُ بين الجميع،
فلا خوفَ بعد اليوم ولا عداوة.

نظر الديك من أعلى،
وتبسّم وقال:

خبرٌ عظيم!
ولكن… أرى كلبين قادمين مسرعين،
لعلّهما جاءا ليُشاركاك هذا السلام.

ارتعد الثعلب وقال:

لعلّ الخبر لم يصل إليهما بعد!
ثم ولّى هاربًا.

فضحك الديك وقال:

من عرف طبعَ عدوّه،
لم تنطلِ عليه حيلته،
ومن صدّق الماكر،
كان أوّل ضحاياه.

The Fox and the Rooster

A fox once saw a rooster standing safely on a high branch.
With a gentle, friendly voice, the fox called out:

“Good news, my friend!
All animals have agreed to live in peace.
There is no more hatred or danger.
Come down and celebrate with me.”

The rooster looked down calmly and replied:

“That is wonderful news!
But look — I see two dogs running toward us.
They must be coming to celebrate this peace as well.”

At this, the fox grew frightened and said:

“Perhaps the news has not reached them yet!”
And he ran away as fast as he could.

The rooster laughed and said:

“Those who know the nature of their enemy
are not deceived by sweet words.
The wise stay safe,
while the foolish fall for flattery.”

The Moral
• Not every kind word is sincere
• Peace does not come from deceivers
• Wisdom is knowing when not to trust
