قصة الأسد والثور (شَتْرَبَه ودِمْنَة)

كان في غابةٍ عظيمة أسدٌ ملك تحكمه الهيبة والقوة،
وكان له وزيرٌ ماكر يُدعى دِمنة.

وفي يومٍ من الأيام، ضلّ ثورٌ يُدعى شنزبة طريقه،
حتى وصل إلى الغابة،
وكان إذا جاع أو عطش صاح بصوتٍ عظيم.

سمع الأسد صوته، فخاف،
إذ ظن أن في الغابة وحشًا أقوى منه.

لكن دِمنة خرج يتحقق،
فعرف أن الصوت لثورٍ أعزل،
فأحضره إلى الأسد،
ونشأت بين الأسد وشنزبة صداقة صادقة.

صار الثور قريبًا من الملك،
ينصحه بإخلاص،
حتى أحبه الأسد واطمأن له.

هنا دبّ الحسد في قلب دِمنة،
فقال في نفسه:

إن دام قرب الثور من الملك، زال قدري.

فبدأ بالوقيعة.

ذهب إلى الأسد وقال:

“إن الثور يُظهر لك الود،
لكنه يُضمر العصيان،
وصوته الذي تسمعه ليس جوعًا… بل استعدادًا للتمرّد.”

ثم ذهب إلى الثور وقال:

“إن الأسد قد تغيّر عليك،
ويُبيّت لك الشر،
فاستعدّ للدفاع عن نفسك.”

دبّ الشك في القلوب،
وتحوّل الود إلى خوف،
والصداقة إلى ريبة.

وفي يومٍ أسود،
واجه الأسد الثور،
فاشتد القتال،
وقُتل شنزبة البريء.

بعدها فقط،
انكشف كذب دِمنة،
لكن بعد فوات الأوان.

جلس الأسد نادمًا،
وقد خسر صديقًا وفيًّا،
بسبب كلمة نمّام.

• النميمة تقتل الثقة
• والكلمة المسمومة أشد من السيف
• ومن لم يتحقق، خسر البريء

“من صدّق الواشي،
قطع حبل الوفاء بيده.”

?? The Lion and the Ox (Shatrabah and Dimna)

A genuine story from Kalila wa Dimna

In a great forest lived a Lion, king of the beasts.
Near him was an Ox named Shatrabah, strong and sincere, who became close to the Lion and earned his trust.

In the court also lived a jackal named Dimna.
Seeing the Ox’s growing favor, envy filled Dimna’s heart, and he feared losing his own influence.

So Dimna went to the Lion and whispered:

“The Ox hides ill intentions behind friendly words.
I fear he plots against you.”

Then Dimna went to the Ox and said:

“The Lion’s heart has changed.
He no longer trusts you.”

Thus, doubt was planted in both hearts.

Day after day, suspicion grew.
Friendship turned into fear,
and fear into hatred—
until the Lion attacked and killed the Ox.

Only later did the Lion discover the truth:
that Dimna’s words were lies,
and that envy had destroyed loyalty.

The Lion felt deep regret—
but regret cannot revive what words have killed.
