حكاية الإتّفاق بين الأفعى والفأر

يحكى أن غابة تعرضت لحريق كبير ، فهربت الحيوانات خارجها ومن تلك الحيوانات كانت أفعى تحاول الزحف بأسرع ما يمكنها لعل وعسى تنجو من النار، وأثناء هروبها وحال خروجها من الغابة مرهقة مصابة بالعطش نظرت فوجدت فأراً.
في تلك اللحظة خشي الفأر على نفسه منها ، فأراد الهرب فنادته وقالت : " لا تهرب أيها الفأر ، فإنني نجوت الآن ولن أقتلك بعد هذا الخوف الذي رأيته".
توقف الفأر وقال لها : " لم أفهم".
قالت له : " أنا عطشى وأريد أن أكون صديقتك منذ الآن ، فقط اسقني الماء".
قال لها الفأر: "الحقيني".

مشى الفأر ومن خلفه الأفعى تزحف متعبة ومصابة بالعطش، حتى وصلا إلى بيت كان قد أعده، وتعب عليه لفترة طويلة فدخل وخرج ومعه بعض الماء ليسقيها منه.
شربت الأفعى حتى ارتوت، ثم قالت له : " أريد النوم، هل من مكان هادئ؟"
فأجاب الفأر الطيب: " ادخلي إلى بيتي فهو معد بعناية".

دخلت الأفعى ونامت واستيقظت بعد ساعات، مستعيدة عافيتها كاملة، فنظرت إلى الفأر فوجدته في البيت وقالت: " اسمع، أنا أعقد اتفاقاً معك على أن أعيش هنا، فلا نعتدي على بعضنا ونعيش براحة وأمن وسلام".
أجاب الفأر متردداً: " نعم .. نعم .. أنا موافق".

بعد دقائق، وبعد أن جالت الأفعى في بيتها الجديد حسب ما وصفته، قال لها الفأر: "أنا ذاهب لإحضار بعض الطعام"، فقالت له : " لا تتأخر!"
وصل الفأر باب بيته وعندها التفت إلى الأفعى وقال: "وداعاً إلى الأبد، مبارك عليكِ بيتي، حياتي أهم".

فنادته الأفعى: " لماذا تشك بي؟".
فأجابها: " هذا اتفاق بين قوي وضعيف، ليس لي فيه حول ولا قوة، بل إنني وافقت عليه خوفاً على حياتي، والآن أنجو بها".

الحكمة :
ليست كل الاتفاقيات تضمن حقوقنا ، ويجب أن نكون أذكياء؛ فإن كان الاتفاق لا يحمينا فعلينا الهرب إلى اتفاق آخر يحمينا أو مكان يضمن حقنا .

It is told that a forest was once struck by a huge fire, and all the animals fled outside. Among them was a snake, crawling as fast as she could, hoping to escape the flames. As she finally made it out of the forest, exhausted and desperately thirsty, she spotted a mouse.

In that moment, the mouse feared for his life and tried to run away.
The snake called out to him:
“Don’t run away, little mouse. I have just survived death; I won’t kill you after all this fear I’ve been through.”

The mouse stopped and said:
“I don’t understand.”

She replied:
“I am thirsty, and I want to be your friend from now on. Just give me some water.”

The mouse said to her:
“Follow me.”

The mouse walked ahead, and the snake crawled behind him, tired and thirsty, until they reached a house the mouse had built and spent a long time preparing. He went inside, then came out carrying some water to give her.

The snake drank until her thirst was gone, then said:
“I want to sleep. Is there a quiet place?”

The kind mouse answered:
“Come into my house; it’s carefully prepared.”

The snake went inside, slept, and woke up hours later, having fully regained her strength. She looked at the mouse, still in the house, and said:
“Listen, I want to make an agreement with you: I will live here, and we will not harm each other. We’ll live in comfort, safety, and peace.”

The mouse replied hesitantly:
“Y-yes… yes, I agree.”

A few minutes later, after the snake had wandered around what she now called her “new home”, the mouse said to her:
“I’m going to get some food.”
She told him:
“Don’t be long!”

When the mouse reached the door of his house, he turned back to the snake and said:
“Goodbye forever. Congratulations on the house… but my life is more important.”

The snake shouted:
“Why do you doubt me?”

He answered:
“This is an agreement between the strong and the weak. I have no real power in it. I only agreed because I was afraid for my life — and now I will save it.”

Moral:
Not every agreement truly protects our rights. We must be wise: if an agreement does not keep us safe, we should escape to another agreement or another place that does.
