Prophet Sheeth (Seth), Peace Be Upon Him

Prophet Sheeth (Seth), peace be upon him, was one of the sons of Prophet Adam, and it is said that he was the closest to his father in appearance and character. It is reported that the lineage of humanity today goes back to him, after the lines of his other brothers disappeared. His name “Sheeth” is often explained as “gift”, because he was a gift from Allah to Adam after the death of his son Habil (Abel).

Before Adam passed away, he entrusted prophethood and divine knowledge to Sheeth, gave him the scriptures that he had, and asked him to keep them safe and away from Qabil (Cain) and his corrupt descendants. Sheeth, peace be upon him, became known for his worship and devotion, and some narrations mention that he lived in Makkah, frequently performing Hajj and ‘Umrah, and that he helped in building the Kaaba from stone and clay.

Over time, some people turned away from his guidance and fell into sin and immorality, until that era became an example of the “first age of ignorance and sinful display”. Sheeth, peace be upon him, used to remind his people about Allah, warn them against Satan and his traps, and call them to remain firm upon faith and to avoid following the people of corruption.

He continued calling to Allah and working to reform the earth until death approached him. He left behind a will of faith and goodness for those after him, and some reports mention that he was buried near Adam and Hawwa’ (Eve), peace be upon them both.
